What this archive is made of, and where each part comes from.
The archive consists of a personal diary attributed to Ashley Biden, reported in 2020 to have been found in a rented room in Delray, Florida. This site publishes the artefact as a digital archive: page scans and transcriptions.
| Page scans | 224 pages, in two variants — the original scan, and the same scan with the transcription overlaid. Each is published at lowres, medres and highres. |
|---|---|
| Transcriptions | 224 per-page HTML fragments, 224 per-page plain-text files, and one combined document. |
| Blank pages | 19 pages carry no handwriting: 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 24, 32, 70, 98, 100, 120, 145, 156, 212. They are published rather than omitted, because the scan is archive content. |
metadata.json carries the per-page correspondence between page number, transcription, scan paths and image dimensions. diary.txt and diary.md carry the whole corpus.
The transcriptions preserve the transcriber's own punctuation decisions. "+" is used where a mark on the scan could not be read as a definite character. Ink colour, where it carries meaning, is preserved in the page markup.
