The Story Behind the Discovery

According to federal prosecutors and news coverage, in 2020 Ashley Biden left personal belongings, including her diary, in a rented room in Delray Beach, Florida when she moved out. Aimee Harris, who moved into the same room, discovered the items and conspired with Robert Kurlander to sell them.

The pair initially attempted to sell the diary to the Trump campaign for what they called a "ton of money," but campaign representatives declined and advised them to take the material to the FBI. Instead, they sold it to Project Veritas for $40,000. Project Veritas immediately returned the book to law enforcement without publishing its contents, but despite their goodwill, the FBI continued an investigation, conducting gun-drawn morning raids, confiscating phones and electronic devices, and trampling journalistic and attorney-client privileges in their tyrannical overreach.

This led to a federal investigation through the Southern District of New York. In 2024, Harris was sentenced to one month in prison and three years of probation for conspiracy to transport stolen property across state lines.
